The Raven mask is one of the essential Hamatsa dancers. The Hamatsa is considered to be the most important. The right to perform this dance is owned by particular families whose members have been possessed generation after generation by Baxwbakwalanuksiwe’ the man-eating supernatural being.
Ravens are creatures whose curiosity often gets the best of them. Raven is responsible for putting the sun, moon and stars into the sky. Also symbols of prestige and knowledge.
