The Bear stand was hand-carved and painted by Dzawa'enuxw artist, Gilbert Dawson.

Bear symbolizes power, strength, healing, thoughtfulness, and willpower.

Gilbert Dawson is a Kwakwaka'wakw carver from Alert Bay. Gilbert holds Wolf, Sun, and Sisiutl as his crests. He has been carving since 1995.
