Earring - Hoop with Copper
These earrings were handmade by Tsartlip and Ditidaht First Nations artist Angel Williams. Featured inside the beaded hoop is a small copper shield.
Pieces of Copper were hammered into the shape of a shield, were among the most valued items at Northwest Coast potlatches. Among the Kwakwaka'wakw, coppers increased in value each time they changed hands.
