Hello, my name is Chii-Niahtt George, my English name is Wilson A. George.
I am a First Nations carver from the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation on central Vancouver Island.
Since 1993, I have been carving and enhancing my craft. I specialize in mask carving and have expanded my talents into painting and totem carving.
Over the course of my career I have had the privilege of working on 6 totems located within Vancouver Island. These being in Gold River, Port Alberni, and 4 totems around Victoria.
The teachers in my life have helped me become the accomplished artist I am today.
Nuu-Chah-Nulth First Nations painter Pat Amos of the Muchalaht First Nation in Nootka Sounds on Northern Vancouver Island is my biggest influence for my artwork.
The late Kwakiutl First Nations totem carver Tony Hunt Jr. was a major influence on me, and I had the honour of being second carver to him for the Victoria totems.
I continue to focus on my mask making and I collaborate with other artists from time to time.
