Feather on Stand - Wild Woman
The cedar feather is hand-carved and painted by Kwakwaka'wakw artist, Sandy Johnson.
The Wild Woman is venerated as a bringer of wealth, but is also greatly feared by children, because she is also known as an ogress who steals children and carries them home in her basket to eat.

Sandy Johnson is currently living in Alert Bay, BC, but he and his family are from Gilford Island, BC. He started carving in 1985 and mostly a self-taught carver. Learning at a young age from watching his father, Sam Johnson. He also learned from watching other carvers that were around when he was growing up. The artists that have inspired him are Sam Johnson and Simon Dick (Kingcome Inlet).
