Plaque - Seal with Salmon

The Seal with Salmon plaque was hand-carved and paintd by Tsawataineuk artist, Jackson Robertson. It was made with cedar and abalone shell inlay.

The Salmon is known to be the giver of life and is a symbol of prosperity and new beginnings.

Jackson Roberston is a Master Carver from the Northwest coast of Canada, British Columbia. He has been carving mainly yellow and red cedar for over 40 years. His Tribal affiliation is the Tsawataineuk First Nation from Kingcome Inlet, BC but he lived most of his life in Nanaimo.
