This original work is the first in a series of four Tonto paintings with collage. In Littlechild's colourful and expressive modern style, the mixed-media painting continues a series depicting the Hollywood-type "Indian" sidekick "Tonto" of the Lone Ranger television series of the mid-century. The work continues Littlechild's social commentary on the colonial white man's stereotypical and untrue depiction of a North American First Nations man.
