Talking Stick - Eagle & Bear

Artist: Jim Yelton

This incredible cedar talking stick is hand carved my Squamish First Nation artist Jim Yelton.

The Talking stick, used in many Indigenous cultures, is an ancient and powerful “communication tool” that ensures a code of conduct of respect during meetings is followed. The person holding the stick, and only that person, is designated as having the right to speak and all others must listen quietly and respectfully.

Eagle is a symbol of peace and friendship. They are loyal animals full of lasting lover and dedication.

The bear is seen as power, strength and healing. Bear is also seen as thoughtful and strong willed.
