Earrings - Abalone with Copper
These gorgeous long Copper earrings are accented with square pieces of Abalone in the center and at the end. Each piece of copper is cut and hammered by hand carefully by Kingcome Inlet First Nation artist Clyde Dawson.
Abalone is a symbol of water, its calmness and tranquility protect us.
Pieces of Copper were hammered into the shape of a shield, were among the most valued items at Northwest Coast potlatches. Among the Kwakwaka'wakw, coppers increased in value each time they changed hands.
