Mervyn ChildMervyn is a member of the Kwakiutl people. He lives in his home village of Tsakis, or Fort Rupert, at the North end of Vancouver Island. Mervyn works with his uncle, Calvin Hunt, through the Copper Maker Gallery.
Mervyn's latest works include the carved house front for the new I-Hos Gallery/Giftshop. He also worked on the beautiful canoe, I-Hos, which participated in the Commonwealth Games during the summer of 1994. He is fast developing a reputation as a master carver of Kwakiutl Art. He is well known for his work in masks, totem poles and canoes, as well as his
participation in the traditional cultural ceremonies.
