Harold was born in and raised (mainly) by his grandparents in Alert Bay BC.
From an early age, he was provided with plenty of positive encouragement with drawing with paper and pencil and learning proper implementation of designs, history, stories, legends and art forms.
In order to gain further knowledge and appreciation of the Kwakiutl art form Harold studied under the supervision of the present-day master artist Tony Hunt Sr., Doug Cranmer, and Oscar Matilpi.
Harold has learned the basic techniques of carving wood as well as the three-dimensional shaping. He has also taken a Fine Arts Course at Malaspina University, to further enhance his understanding of the principles of the composition and development of art in general.
