Charles Joseph Sr.
Charles Joseph, better known as Boone, was born in Alert Bay, BC and raised by his great grandparents, Charles and Minnie Dick on Turnour Island.
He started carving with his grandfather, Harry Joseph and cousins Roy Speck and Joe Peters. Taking a Native Carvers course with the Musgamagw Tsawataineuk council, Charles learnt from and was inspired by master carvers Wayne Alfred and Beau Dick.
"The potlatches that I have witnessed and partaken in have helped me carry on with carving. My fellow carvers, Tim Alfred and Dallas Hunt deserve thanks for their encouragement. And I would like to thank the Cedar Trees for the wood and bark that they provide me to fulfill my ambition."
